Following on from the Dolphin Breeding ban in New South Wales announced last month, WCA partners Advocating Wild teamed up with World Animal Protection Australia to ramp up the pressure on the only remaining facility left in the country that still breeds cetaceans for human entertainment.

Sea World Gold Coast in Queensland continues to breed non-endangered bottlenose dolphins despite the practice no longer being acceptable in any other Australian State.

World Animal Protection reached out to the Advocating Wild team who have spent years researching the park and collating a comprehensive data base of information about the animals kept in the amusement facility.

“Utilising our research and imagery, personalised postcards were created by WAP for each BGH Capital owner, Robin Bishop, Ben Gray and Simon Harle, who acquired the former Village Roadshow owned Sea World” said Jackie at Advocating Wild.

“The three postcards each featured a photo of a named captive bred Sea World dolphin and highlighted a snippet about the animals sad existence at the park.”

Postcards in hand, WAP then spent a day outside of the BGH Offices in Melbourne handing them to the passing public.

* Advocating Wild supports the stance that wild animals should not be bought or sold

or used in public interactions, performances or theatrical shows. Wildlife should not be bred unless part of a conservation breeding programme in which the animals involved are being responsibly released back into the wild.

Advocating wild understands that on occasion wild animals may require human intervention and/or care and that sometimes it might not be possible to return those animals to their natural habitat. Those animals should be provided only genuine sanctuary where they are kept in conditions that meet their species specific needs in a natural way.
